Hurricane Irma made landfall on Cudjoe Key in Florida early yesterday (Sunday) morning with Category 4 winds reaching 130 miles per hour and made landfall again yesterday afternoon South of Naples, on Marco Island, as a Category 3 hurricane with winds around 120 miles per hour. More than 2.1 million customers lost power.
Florida utilities were preparing over a week ahead of the storm. Municipal utilities began activating Mutual Aid Agreements to line up help from other utilities near and far. Florida utilities and those utilities assisting them from out of state have been working diligently and are making steady progress restoring power.

Update, as of Wed. eve, it has been reported that around 13 million Florida residents lost power, with around 3.8 million still without power today.
