Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Orlando Utility Commission (OUC) earned the “Sunriser” designation, demonstrating leading levels of planned solar growth over the next four years. Of particular note is FPL’s ambitious “30 by 30” plan which will more than double their annual pace of solar expansion.
On April 11, 2019, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) released their second annual Solar in the Southeast 2018 report which highlights solar data and trends throughout the Southeast, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Their analysis is based on a “watts per customer” metric, which looks at the amount of installed solar for each utility relative to the total number of customers served, providing an unbiased standard by which utilities and states can be compared and contrasted.
